Pink Route in Slieve Carran Nature Reserve, Burren NP
The Pink Route in Slieve Carran Nature Reserve leads to one of the cutest little spots: A bench on a hill overlooking the limestone landscape, while the cliff faces of ‘Eagle’s Rock’ shelter you from behind. A place to bring a book, coffee flask or a companion to while away the time in perfect harmony.
Distance + Time needed:
The route takes about 30 minutes to complete and covers a distance of ca 3km.
Difficulty:
Easy – One small incline, but mostly a walk on even terrain.
How to get there (parking):
The easiest way to reach the allocated parking spaces for the Slieve Carran Nature Reserve Walking Trails is by using your ‘Maps’ App. You can find the parking spaces here.
There is no public transport to the Nature Reserve.
Getting on the walk:
The start of the Pink Route is at the parking spaces. There is a small opening in the stone wall next to the gate which will take you onto the walk. Follow the pink discs to stay on this walking trail.
The first section of the walk will be the same as the Brown Route. The pink waymarkers are not very consistent in the beginning, so stay on the trail with the brown discs until you get to the fork in the road – pink discs will lead you along the rest of the trail from here.
What to expect from the walk:
The trail is mostly on grassy terrain, interspersed with rocky limestone patches. Hiking boots are recommended if it has rained.
The Pink Route has an incline which leads onto a small hill with a beautiful bench that overlooks the pretty landscape below. The perfect place to sit down, have a deep chat with a loved one and enjoy the views. Being here for sunrise or sunset is especially beautiful.
The road then descends back down and loops back to the start.
Public toilets:
There are no public toilets on this route.
